I have always led a very active lifestyle where I played softball, volleyball and received my black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I have had a gym membership for as long as I can remember, and really loved doing group fitness classes and challenging myself.

I used to be a cardio bunny and avoided the weights room for the fear of becoming "bulky" and the fact that it was so intimidating walking into a room full of males and not knowing how to use the equipment! It was when I met my now husband, who told me I could not grow a booty on the elliptical machine (LOL!), that I started reading A LOT about weight training and found myself more confident in the weights room in no time.

Many years later we got married and became pregnant, and that is when I truly understood the importance of my health and the health of my family. Health is our greatest fortune and something we should prize and be proud of. I trained throughout my entire pregnancy and gave birth to a healthy baby boy (9lb 3oz). I felt strong, healthy and confident throughout my entire pregnancy and I want moms to feel similarly empowered.

Today, I continue to eat a healthy wholesome diet and work hard in the gym but I also recognize the importance of rest and balance in life. Whether you are a busy career woman or a busy mom, you do not have time to spend two hours at the gym every day. I want women to view this as a lifestyle approach that is happily maintained.
